Forget about introductions, because even I don't know myself that well so I'll just allow you guys to infer by reading my blog posts. Okay but one thing you guys should know is that my language is really poor so don't expect perfect English :'-)
28 November to 30 November was one of the most tiring days in 2016 and it was indeed a rollercoaster of emotions - shy, awkward, tired, embarrassed and many more. I was in group 4 and i only knew 3/15 of them can you imagine how awkward it was for me because out of the three, I was only close to 1 and yes, it's jinsheng.
We started off our camp at Fort Canning Park, where we had our ice breakers and then the amazing race. We then walked to the read bridge > some temple near Chinatown > Singapore river ( I can't really remember the route for the whole trekking activity so pardon me. But if I'm not wrong, I think we trekked for 20km ?? ))
We then took the MRT to Bedok, where we had our lunch at Hot Tomato.
After that, we headed to Bedok Reservoir > a canal near 九仙宫 > Pasir Ris Park. The second half was pretty tiring because apparantly we walked around half of Bedok reservoir ?? But it was pretty worth it cause we got to walk inside the canal which is something I'd never done before. Once we reached Pasir Ris Park, we started to pitch up our tents, which was really cool, because I never knew how to pitch one. Soon, it was dinner time and we BBQ-ed together with group 3! Probably the worst BBQ I've ever been to but it's okay, I still enjoyed myself at the end of this camp. I still remember telling nandika and crystal how much I disliked my group because I didn't know most of them and I hated that feeling, and I even wanted to jump group but thank God I didn't !!! Day 2 was so so much better although it was pretty embarrassing eeps.
One of the most embarrassing day in my life :'-) Our program for the day was Kayaking > amazing race ii > night cycling. So, during breakfast, I was actually in a dilemma if I should kayak because 🚨. But Audrey told me nothing would happen so I just went for it in the end :'-) Before we kayak, we took a few pictures and then paired ourselves, 1 boy - 1 girl, and were ready to kayak :-)
Here's where things started to get embarrassing for me. js kindly offered to pair with me, despite the fact that I was on my 🚨 and I told him that it would get pretty disgusting. But he still sticked by aw. Before we kayak, we did some floating exercise where we needed to go to the water. And once we got up, I remember asking my Friend if I had leaked and she was like yeah. and I immediately panicked, not knowing what to do, but to just squat down, while the rest went up for further instructions. It was pretty awkward because everyone was looking at me like what was I doing ?? and some Instructors came up to me and asked me if I was okay and yeah they found out ahhaha. Okay so after we kayaked for quite a bit, we gathered again. So right, all the front people needed to stand up on the boat while the back person held on to the boat beside them and because I was the first, I couldn't stand hahaha. ( okay in case some of you don't get it, if I stand, my blood would leak so yeah. idky am I being so open about this but oh wells ) Yeah can you imagine, everyone was standing except for me :'-) Kayaking w js was pretty fun I guess, because we were both not bad at it :p Once we were done Kayaking, we headed back up and js and I were the last. I felt pretty bad because js had to return the boat and everything alone while I stayed in the sea with Joline. ( oh and by the way, joline was apparently one of the Instructors :-)) she's super cool and friendly !! ) when I got up from the water, joline told me that I leaked and should faster go wash up, which I did, and js covered me so no one would see Hahahha. rly thank God for you man js 💕😭 okay so yeah, that's the major embarrassing part of my experience at NYAA. After washing up, We had Nasi Lemak for lunch and then amazing race ii. It was quite cute and funny how everyone were quite on about it because bingheng wanted us to win 1st place because we didn't win anything for Day 1 hahha and YAS !!! We got 1st place :-))) I really like our facils because they were super nice ?!!! and honestly, they felt more like a senior to me hahaha. I still remember how cass was feeding each one of us longans, which was our prize. Next, we headed to white sands for dinner at XinWangHK cafe followed by bingsu ( thanks bingheng for the treat hohoh ). We then returned to the campsite to collect our bikes, and then slept till 12:45am, before our night cycle at 1:30am.
We cycled from Pasir Ris park > Changi Airport > old Changi Airport food centre ( I think, and then Nathanael broke the sink cause he sat on it ahhaha it was pretty funny ) > ECP > GBTB ( total around 30km ). At first, I was pretty worried about this night Cycling activity due to my night blindness and plus I hadn't cycle for a very long time so it was quite challenging for me. you know those beginners that can't balance and then the bicycle keeps going left and right ?? yeah that was me. It was pretty embarrassing la haha but oh wells. Then, there was this path that got super dark and before that, bh actually got me a head torch and tied it to my helmet. While cycling, he also helped to shine a torch onto the pavement so that j could follow the light which I thought was super smart and nice of him, cause despite the lights, I couldn't see the pavement. I could only see light. Oh and the worst part was, because the rest of the group were super far ahead, we needed to speed up. And so, I sped up and guess what, the head torch flew away ??? and I didn't even realised till cass told me. Also, I actually banged into this guy's bike due to my lousy cycling skills cries I feel damn bad. Oh and another embarrassing part was that, at ECP, there were cones in the middle and being such a blind person, I cycled into one lolllll. But okay, thank God there weren't many people hahah. Around 7:20, we finally arrived at GBTB and oh my, it was actually more of painful than tiring because we sat on the seat for damn long but oh wells, it was super satisfying. We had our breakfast at GBTB and then returned our bikes, and headed back to school where we washed our tents.
I never knew how tents were washed till yesterday and I must say, it was pretty interesting. Once we were dismissed, I immediately went home to wash up and slept from 1-7:30 which could have been later if it weren't for my helper who woke me up. I actually set 20 alarms for 4-5 pm and I guess, I slept really well ahahha.
NYAA camp was indeed a torture but no regrets man !!! I feel like I've grown a little as I've stepped out abit of my comfort zone. I was actually super super afraid to cycle to the extent where I actually hyperventilated at one point and all I could think of was to say " Jesus ". He really helped me to pull through this camp la :-))) Wouldn't have had the strength without him. Also want to thank my group girls, for allowing me to steal your water because I lost my bottle :-( & also, for the great memories we had together :-) And for the guys, good job reading the map hohoh. And to the facils, thanks for constantly looking out for me, especially during the night cycling. I'll remember cass's hypeness, jensen's random singing, zhengyang's joke telling time and bingheng's thoughtfulness. Thanks guys for the best 3D2N so far in 2016.
